Mamata tables White Paper in Parliament, shows profits inflated by Lalu
New Delhi: Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee presented a 'White Paper' in Parliament on Friday, giving details of the financial position of the Railways which indicated the difference between the claim and the actual finances of the Railways during the term of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav as the Railway Minister of the country. Banerjee did not hit out personally at Lalu Prasad Yadav, but through the document she aimed to point out the claims of Railways generating a surplus of Rs 90, 000 crore presented by Lalu Prasad Yadav during his term as the Railway Minister. The White Paper document showed only a surplus of Rs 20,000 crore during Lalu's term. There was chaos inside the Parliament, as Mamata Banerjee tabled the 'White Paper' pointing towards the financial differences during the tenure of Lalu Yadav and the manner in which money was spent on railways during his tenure as the Railway Minister. Earlier in July this year while presenting the Railway Budget, Banerjee had assured to present a White Paper in Parliament, as the opposition queried about Lalu Yadav's claims of turning around the Railways and making it a profitable one. When asked about the White Paper issue, Lalu Prasad Yadav appeared to be calm and said, it is good that Mamata Banerjee has come out with documents and everyone should know what is Railway's position at present.
