Kota:At least six labourers were killed and over 50 feared trapped after an under-construction bridge on the Chambal river collapsed in Kota last night. After an overnight halt,
the rescue operations have resumed at the site. The Army has arrived and is helping
out with clearing out the debris. The construction task of the 50-metre long bridge
had been entrusted to a Korean company. The reason for the collapse is yet to
be ascertained. Meanwhile, State Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has announced an
exgratia t of two lakh rupees each for the next of kin of those killed and one
lakh for the injured. The state government has also announced an inquiry of the
accident. Case of criminal negligence has also been registered against two companies
constructing the bridge.
