High Court issues notice to Tiwari on paternity suit
New Delhi:The Delhi High Court on Friday issued notice to former Andhra Pradesh Governor N D Tiwari on a paternity suit filed by Rohit Shekhar, who claims to be his biological son. A division bench headed by Justice A P Shah issued a notice to Tiwari asking him to file his response by February 9. Shekhar had earlier filed his appeal on November 3, 2009 before a division bench; after a single-bench order had dismissed his petition on the grounds of jurisdiction saying that it was not maintainable. The bench headed by Justice S N Dhingra had permitted the plea of Tiwari asking for dismissal of the petition filed by Shekhar. Shekhar had challenged the November 3 verdict that had dismissed his petition. Last month, Tiwari had to resign as the Andhra Pradesh Governor, after a news channel showed him in a compromising position with three women in Raj Bhavan. Tiwari had however dismissed the allegations and said that he was resigning on health grounds.
