BJP seeks to put diplomatic pressure on Australia for attacks on Indians
New Delhi: A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) delegation met External Affairs Minister SM Krishna and urged him to exert more diplomatic pressure on Australia over the spate of attacks on Indians. The delegation, said Krishna had described their suggestions as welcoming and assured them that India would increase diplomatic pressure on Australia . "We had a very extensive conversation with SM Krishna. We told him that steps taken by the government so far have proved to be ineffective," said Sushma Swaraj, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha. "We have said that we have come to state only two things as to what steps you ( Krishna ), have taken are inappropriate. Being an opposition, we would extend our full support to any tough action you take. We said we want you to step up diplomatic pressure," she added. The delegation also hoped its meeting with Krishna would encourage the government to take more concrete steps on the issue.
