India strikes gold on day one of Commonwealth Shooting Championship
New Delhi:Shooters Gagan Narang and P T Raghunath brought glory to the country on the first day of the Commonwealth Shooting Championship by winning the gold medal in the men's 10-meter air rifle event at the Dr Karni Singh shooting range here on Friday. Narang and Raghunath scored 599 points and 594 points respectively to win the gold on the first day of the event. Women shooters also joined the party as they won the gold in the 25-meter sports pistol woman pairs. The Indian duo of Virat Singh and Bapu Vanjare won a silver in the men's 50 meter free pistol pairs. Olympic gold medalist Abhinav Bindra has been ruled out of the 11-day Commonwealth Shooting Championship, as he did not attend the trials.
