Pro-Telangana protestors try to march towards Parliament
New Delhi:The security personnel here on Monday defused an attempt of hundreds of pro-Telangana protestors, including lawyers, students and other activists to march towards Parliament. The protestors who started marching towards parliament from Jantar Mantar succeeded in crossing the first barricade and ran towards Parliament Gate number five. Police used water cannons to disperse the protestors. They persisted in trying to march towards the Parliament, demanding that the Centre immediately bring a bill in Parliament favouring the formation of Telangana. Holding placards and shouting slogans demanding the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, the protestors tried to march towards Parliament but were prevented by police near the Transport Bhavan. However, a group of nearly 150 lawyers slipped away and managed to reach near the parliament annexe. They tried to forcibly enter the place, but were stopped by the security personnel.
