Mumbai: Twenty-six models participated in the second round of a
beauty contest organised here on Saturday. Organised by Lakshmi Narayan Tripathi,
a known transgendered and activist, the auditions for the contest titled 'Indian
Super Queen' took place in 10 cities. Oozing self-confidence, the contestants
swayed to the music as they walked the ramp and introduced themselves. "I would
like to give a message to the mainstream society that love us as you love your
own children," said Tripathi. The finale of the contest, orgainsed with an aim
to dispel social taboos associated with being a transgendered person in India, will be held in New Delhi on February 21.
