Mangalore air crash: Black Box found
Mangalore: The 'Black Box' of the ill-fated Air India Express flight that crashed in Mangalore on Saturday was found on Tuesday. The 'Black Box', is the plane's digital flight data recorder and helps investigation of an accident. It provides key details of the conversation between the Air Traffic Control and the pilot helping investigators ascertain what went wrong. The 'Black Box' will be taken to Delhi for an analysis of acceleration and engine thrust at the time of accident. The Air India Boeing 737-800, carrying 160 passengers and a crew of six, overshot a runway and crashed into flames on landing at Mangalore airport. 158 persons were killed and there were only eight survivors on the flight coming from Dubai . This is the first major plane crash in India since 2000.
