Jhargram (West Bengal): The death toll into Friday's Gyaneshwari Express mishap near Jhargram in West Bengal's West Midnapore District is reported to be 120 by Saturday evening. The number of the injured
stood at 250, as rescue operations were still being carried out at the site located
some 135 kilometres from Kolkata. According to reports, the death toll is likely
to exceed 150, as one badly smashed bogie is yet to be looked into. The incident
occurred at around 1:30 a.m. on Friday, when the Mumbai-bound train was running
between Khemasoli and Sardiya stations.
