Lt Gen sacked after being accused of sexual misconduct
New Delhi: The Indian Army's reputation took a hit on Thursday when Lieutenant General AK Nanda, its Engineer-in-Chief, was asked to put in his papers after a fellow Army officer's
wife filed a complaint against him for sexual misconduct. Chief of Army Staff,
General V.K.Singh asked Lt. Gen. A. K. Nanda to put in his papers. Lt. Gen. Nanda
was accused of molesting the wife of his technical secretary during an Israel
visit. Nanda is the senior-most Army officer to face such action over sexual misconduct
charges. The victim reportedly filed her complaint with the Chief of Army Staff's
wife and President of the Army Wives Welfare Association, who placed the matter
before General Singh. Lt. General Nanda assumed charge of his present post just
a year ago. He had earlier served as the Director General of the Border Roads
Organisation (BRO).
