Security beefed up in Agra before Commonwealth Games

Agra: Security is being beefed up in Agra in anticipation of an increased inflow of foreign tourists during the October Commonwealth Games in New Delhi. "As the Commonwealth Games are approaching, we have started taking security measures in market areas. Wherever there are unidentified vehicles found, they are being checked up by bomb disposal team and dog squad," said Ashfaq Ahmad, Superintendent of Police, Crime Branch, Agra . "Our main objective is that during the Commonwealth Games there should be no such incident leading to terror; so we are making the locals aware about it," he added. Locals, despite certain inconvenience, are happy with the security drive launched by the city police. "There should be measures taken for security and this is a good step initiated by the police administration, but these security measures will just be taken till the Commonwealth Games." said Hirain Mittal, President of Market Association, Sanjay Place Commercial Centre, Agra . India is expecting a huge rush of foreigners to watch the mega event, who later may go round visiting popular tourist spots such as Agra and Jaipur.
