August 2, 2010 | UK could have lost half the Cabinet due to ATC glitch in Delhi during Cameron flight | London: British Prime Minister David Cameron’s jet was caught in a glitch leaving all pilots 'blind', when an air traffic control system failed as it was about to land in the Indian Capital on Wednesday, last week. According to The
Sun, new computer software to prevent mid-air collisions froze for 20 minutes,
prompting a disaster scenario before landing at the Indira Gandhi International
Airport. Cameron’s Boeing 747 was also carrying Foreign Secretary William Hague,
Chancellor George Osborne, business leaders and sports stars on a two-day jobs
mission to India. "It was some scare, when you consider who else was on board.
We could have lost half the Cabinet," a senior government source said. The authorities
put all incoming flights on hold and allowed only Cameron's flight to land. |
