Oz issues dengue fear advisory for citizens traveling to Delhi for CWG

Sydney: Australians heading to India for next month's Commonwealth Games have been warned that the dengue fever outbreak in New Delhi is likely to get worse. The warning came through Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT)'s updated Games bulletin. " New Delhi is currently experiencing its most significant seasonal outbreak of dengue fever recorded in recent years," News.com.au quoted the DFAT bulletin. "The municipal council of Delhi expects the number of cases to rise in September and October 2010," it added. According to reports, at least 1000 cases of dengue fever have been confirmed so far. The latest travel bulletin also advised people to take all precautions by covering up and wearing insect repellent 24 hours a day. Travelers have also been told to be aware of latest advice, including terrorism alerts, through Facebook and Twitter.
