Snowfall boosts tourism prospects for Manali

     Manali (Himachal Pradesh): Thousands of tourists enjoyed snowfall on Tuesday in scenic Gulaba in the Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh. The famous Mall Road of Manali town in Himachal Pradesh was covered in three inches of snow, to the delight of tourists. The town has received snowfall after long wait of five years. 'It's a really nice place (Gulaba). I tried skiing also, sliding on snow was fun and seeing good amount of tourists is also a nice experience. I enjoyed in the snow a lot,' said Nitish Sharma, a tourist from West Bengal. The season's first snowfall, in the region, took place on October 22, and since then, the region has seen a rush of inbound tourists. Tourism analyst Subhas Sharma said past experience shows that an early snowfall in the region boosts inbound traffic in the region. "Snowfall gives a great boost to tourism sector. Usually it happens in December and January, but early snowfall brings good business in the form of winter tourism. Moreover, festivals, annual holidays, etc helped in increasing the number of tourists in the Kullu-Manali region of the state," observed Sharma. The snowfall has led to a dropping of temperatures, enhancing the natural beauty of the region.
