October 6, 2009 | AI suspends pilot, purser for misbehaviour on flight, risking passenger safety | New Delhi: Air India has suspended pilot Ranbir Arora, captain of flight IC 884, and flight
purser Amit Khanna, over the mid-air scuffle incident. Addressing a press conference, president of Indian Commercial Pilots Association Shailendra Singh, demanded a speedy sorting out of the issue as it puts a question mark on the credibility of aviation. Singh said that there was no panic in the association about the report on the enquiry and said that
the pilots have to respect the management and give them the right information.
On Monday, Captain Ranbir Arora had hinted that the cockpit was unmanned during
the scuffle. However, the national carrier declared that the cockpit was not unmanned
during the scuffle, and the security of the passengers was not compromised.
Earlier on Saturday, panic gripped Air India flight IC884 when a fight was
broke out between the two pilots and cabin crew members -in mid air from Sharjah
