2500 Indian workers detained in Kuwait for visa violation

     Kuwait: The Indian Embassy is in touch with the authorities here to release 2500 Indian workers, who were on Wednesday detained by the local police for alleged visa violations. Five officials have been deputed today to various detention locales, while sponsors are being contacted to get the detainees released, sources said, and added that some sponsors had already got those under their respective sponsorships released. The Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs has been informed to get in touch with Indian agents who sent Indians to Kuwait . Meanwhile the families of the detainees claim that they are being targetted by the Kuwaiti Government, however, reportedly, only those who have overstayed their visas are believed to have been detained.
