Seven held with forged visas at Amritsar airport

     Amritsar: Immigration and custom authorities at Amritsar International Airport arrested seven persons with fake visas, as they were about to board a flight to Canada along with a travel agent. Of the seven accused, one was a female. Investigating officer Sukhbir Singh said that accused were detained after it was found that their visas were fake. Singh said stringent action would be taken against the culprits.

“In the morning, our team was present at the International Airport . S K Bhardwaj wrote a letter informing us that they had nabbed 7 persons with forged visas who were about to board a flight to Canada. They probed and got the visas checked from Canada ,” said Singh. The accused who were arrested were Harpal Singh, Navdeep Singh, Jarnail Singh, Harnek Singh, Jaswinder Singh, Kulwinder Singh and Lakhwinder Kaur, besides Vimal Kumar, the travel agent. Four persons belonged to Kapurthala district, two from Jalandhar city and one from Rajasthan. The travel agent assisted the accused to go abroad.
