West Bengal Forest officials recover deer skull, arrest one

     East Gurguria (West Bengal): West Bengal Forest Department on Thursday recovered two deer skulls in east Gurguria town of the state. Acting on a tip-off, the forest officials nabbed a person identified as Swapan Sardar (35) in this connection. The officials recovered two deer skulls and wires from the possession of Sardar. Sardar is suspected to be the poacher in East Gurguria near Raigidhi forest range of 24 South Paraganas district. "Through a confidential report, the skulls and wires have been recovered from Swapan Sardar," said Somanth Sarkar, Range Officer, Raidighi Forest Range. Poaching is the main threat to the survival of Deer, which is illegally killed for its skin and antlers.
