October 22, 2009 | Mamata reviews Railways safety measures | New Delhi:
Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee
today reviewed the safety measures in railway operations with the entire Railway
Board here today. In the meeting, she categorically stated that the safety of
the passengers should continue to be given top priority, as safety never sleeps.
Banerjee said that there should be no compromise on safety matters and any laxity
on this will not be tolerated. She further pointed out that anyone found wanting
on this vital aspect of railway operation will not be spared and stern action
will be taken against those playing with the lives of passengers. Banerjee directed
Railway Board to closely monitor all spheres of railway operations connected with
the safety and hold periodical reviews on this subject. In a related development
in the backdrop of yesterday's train accident at Mathura , Railway Board has transferred
DRM Agra Division R.D.Tripathi and posted Devesh Kumar Mishra Dean IRITM, Lucknow
in his place with immediate effect. In addition Senior Divisional Signal and Telecom
Engineer (Sr DSTE), Agra Division and Senior Divisional Electrical Engineer Operation
(Sr DEE), Jhansi Division have also been asked to proceed on leave. |
