October 26, 2009 | Delhi Transport Corporation hikes bus fares | New Delhi:
The Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) on Monday decided to
hike bus fares. "The fares have been increased for a period of seven years. This
has been done with a view to provide better transport facilities for Delhiites,"
said Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit. After the State Cabinet meeting, Delhi Transport
Minister Arvinder Singh Lovely said: "The NCT Government would earn Rs 400 crore
yearly revenue after this increase is effected." The hike would be effective with
immediate effect. The minimum fare of Rs 3 for upto four kilometres has been increased
to Rs 5, while the Rs 7 and Rs 10 tickets have been increased to Rs 10 and 15
respectively. The students' pass which was of Rs 12.50 has been increased to Rs
100. The fare of general pass has been increased from Rs 400 to 800. The prices
of senior citizen's pass and press have not changed. |
