Over two dozen injured by police action in Jammu

Jammu: Over two dozen people including women, children and media persons were injured when the police resorted to a baton charge on the audience, at the Maulana Azad Stadium on Saturday night. They were there to witness much-hyped VRV Mega Event’s ‘Jazzy-B star night presentation.’ The whole event turned into a messy affair when cops cane charged youths who were dancing to Punjabi songs near the stage. The audience also started hooting over the alleged mismanagement of the organisers. The audience went berserk and they ransacked the chairs, tables, lights, banners and stage while the performers and organizers were whisked away in tight security arrangements by the cops. Some protestors torched some scrap and tyres in the middle of the road resulting in road blockade. The cops were said to be under the influence of liquor.
