April 17, 2010 | Tourists flock to Nainital to beat the heat | Nainital: With the mercury levels on a rise, people from across
India are flocking to Nainital to get a little respite in the summer season. As Nainital has temperate summers, with maximum temperature at 27 degree Celsius, the town witnesses a huge influx of tourists. Hoteliers and traders are gearing
themselves up for the tourist season. "Tourists have started coming in and slowly
and steadily the tourist season is picking up pace. Tourists from Maharashtra
and South India , where there are scorching and humid summers, are especially
coming to Nainital this season. We are meeting many tourists from Maharashtra
. Now we are waiting for tourists from Delhi , Punjab and Lucknow and once they
are here, we will witness a good tourist season," said Kamal Jagati, spokesperson
of the Nainital Hotel Association. Shravan Singh, a boat-owner in Nainital, said
that they make maximum profit and steady income during the summer season. "The
customers have started coming in and we will see a steady increase in the numbers.
In the evenings, however, you can see a lot of visitors near the tourist hotspots.
In winters there is hardly any work for us, but this time of the year our work
picks up pace. This season will stay till July," said Singh. Nainital is a tourist
zone that extends up to Mulwa Tal to the east where neighbouring lake towns of
Bhimtal, Saattal and Naukuchiyatal have developed as tourist centres. |
