SFJ asks Mamata, Uddhav to declare independence for Bengal, Maharashtra
In a letter to Mamata and Uddhav, the SFJ cited exploitation of their resources by the Centre since 1947. It told them they have to become independent to safeguard the identity, language and culture of the Bengali and Marathi peoples.

NEW DELHI, Feb 24: The secessionist grouping called Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), a banned Khalistani outfit having its presence in several countries, has called upon Chief Ministers Mamata Banerjee and Uddhav Thackeray to declare independence for their States, Bengal and Maharashtra, from the Indian Union.

In a letter to Mamata and Uddhav, citing exploitation of their resources by the Centre, the SFJ told them they have to become independent in order to safeguard the prosperity, ethnicity, identity, language, and culture of the Bengali and Marathi peoples from the Indian hegemony which denies diversity and imposes a historical homogeny. The outrageous proposal follows its failed attempts to hijack the farmers' agitation.

"Just like Punjab, since 1947 natural resources of West Bengal and Maharashtra are being exploited while their ethnicity, language, culture, and identity of the indigenous people of West Bengal and Maharashtra is also under existential threat from the Government of India," said SFJ General Counsel Gurpatwant Singh Pannun.

The letter said the elected legislative bodies in both the States had the power to pass a Unilateral Declaration of Independence to secede from the Union of India. It will be well within the established norms of international law as upheld by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in the case of independence of Kosovo, the letter added, according to RepublicWorld.

The SFJ also assured them of its legal services at the International Court of Justice to realise the goal.
