MUMBAI, Feb 24: As covid epidemic is making a second round in Maharashtra, 11 employees of Civil Supplies Minister Chhagan Bhujbal tested positive for the virus on Wednesday. However, the Nashik civil administration said his family members had tested negative. The infected staff have been told to stay in home quarantine.

On Monday, Bhujbal had tested positive. Those who came into contact with the Minister were also traced and checked for coronavirus. Ministers Anil Deshmukh, Rajendra Shingne, Rajesh Tope, Satej Patil, Bachchu Kadu and Jayant Patil had earlier tested positive for coronavirus. Last year about 12 Ministers had contracted the infection.

"I have tested positive for COVID-19. All those who came in my contact over the past two-three days should get themselves tested. My health is fine and there is no reason to worry. All citizens should take proper care in the backdrop of COVID-19. Should wear masks and use sanitisers regularly," Bhujbal said in a tweet in Marathi.

While all over India the covid cases were showing a steady decline since November last, it has suddenly shown a surge in the past few days in Maharashtra, Punjab, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Jammu and Kashmir.
