India extends international flight ban till March 31
As the coronavirus epidemic continues to rage, international commercial passenger flight services stand suspended till March 31 but the flights allowed on select routes through country-to-country air bubble agreements and under the Vande Bharat Mission on a case-to-case basis will continue. The restriction will not apply to cargo flights.

NEW DELHI, Feb 27: The Government has extended the suspension of international passenger flights services till March 31 as the spread of covid pandemic continues, according to a circular issued on Friday by the Directorate-General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

The international flights remained suspended since March 23 last year in the wake of the covid pandemic in the country. However, the flights were allowed on select routes through country-to- country air bubble agreements and the Vande Bharat Mission on a case-to-case basis.

The restriction will not apply to cargo flights and flights specifically approved by the DGCA. The Vande Bharat Mission began in May last year to repatriate Indians stranded in other countries due to the ban on flights all over the world and bilateral "air bubble" arrangements with select countries started in July.

India has formed air bubble pacts with over 20 countries, including the US, UK, UAE, Kenya, Bhutan and France. Under an air bubble pact between two countries, special international flights can be operated by their airlines between their territories.
