UP relaxes night curfew; malls, restaurants open, 50 people allowed at functions
Malls and restaurants opened in UP on Monday as the covid restrictions were relaxed. The duration of night curfew which was in force from 7 pm and badly affected the business of sales, has been reduced by two hours, and will now start at 9 pm.

LUCKNOW, June 21: The Uttar Pradesh Government has reduced night curfew by two hours with effect from Monday. Now the curfew is from 9 pm till 7 am as against the present 7 pm to 7 am. Therefore shops can remain open in the State from 7 am in the morning till 9 pm in the evening.

The malls and restaurants opened on Monday in strict compliance of covid control guidelines. In the new set of relaxations in the covid restrictions, 50 people can attend marriage functions and religious programmes. Shopping malls and restaurants are being allowed to operate with 50% capacity on weekdays till 9 pm.

The Government has stated that covid help desks and pulse oximeters should be provided at the gates of malls, restaurants and other places where people gather. Vegetable and fruit markets will be shifted to open areas.

The curfew relaxation has become effective with effect from Monday in all the 75 districts of the State.

Meanwhile, the Karnataka Government announced on Friday relaxations in lockdown norms in 16 districts of the State where covid positivity rate is below 5 per cent, from Monday. It will be effective till July 5 as a trial. In the rest of 14 districts where the positivity rate is above 5%, the lockdown norms will continue.

The Union Territory of Puducherry reported the test positivity ratio dropped to 3.17 per cent with 233 new cases reported on Sunday. Three patients died. The total cases stood at 1,15,080 and 4,14,157 people have been vaccinated. The fatality rate stands at 1.50 per cent.
