UP allows cinemas, gyms and sports stadiums to open from Monday
The UP Government has said that cinemas, gyms and sports stadiums can open in the State from Monday. They must follow the covid protocols and can remain open from 7 am till 9 pm for five days a week at 50% capacity.

LUCKNOW, July 3: Cinemas, gyms and sports stadiums have been allowed to open in Uttar Pradesh from Monday. Strictly following the covid protocols, they can be open from 7 am till 9 pm for five days a week at 50% capacity, the Government said.

"With the Covid-19 situation coming under control, multiplexes, cinema halls, sports stadiums and gymnasiums can open from Monday, July 5, in strict compliance with protocols. The pandemic has severely affected the business of cinema hall operators," the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) tweeted on Friday.

The Government had allowed restaurants and malls to open at 50% capacity from June 21. Parks and street food stalls were also allowed to open. Government offices are working in full strength.

On Saturday Uttar Pradesh reported 112 new cases and two fatalities, taking the total cases to 17,06,495 and the deaths to 22,622. One death each was reported from Sitapur and Chandauli, the Government said in a statement.

Of the 112 new cases, 17 were reported from Lucknow, 10 from Allahabad, eight from Gautam Buddh Nagar and seven from Kanpur.

In the State, 2,70,723 tests were conducted on Friday, the total number of tests conducted so far reaching 58 million. The current test positivity rate is 0.05%.
