7 killed as Audi Q3, driven by politician's son, zips through Bengaluru's streets at 150 kmph, crashes

Seven young people were killed when their over-speeding Audi Q3 driven by a politician's son crashed against a roadside building in posh Koramangala on Tuesday, after midnight.

BENGALURU, Aug 31: Seven people, including a politician's son, all aged between 20 and 30, were killed when their Audi Q3, zooming through the city's streets at 150 kmph, jumped onto the pavement and crashed against a building in the posh and trendy Koramangala's 80 Feet Road in the wee hours of Tuesday. Fortunately, no innocent people on the roadside were killed.

The man at the wheel, son of Hosur MLA Prakash Y of the DMK, Karunasagar P, 25, had lost control of the vehicle, TOI reported quoting the police. Police are investigating if he was drunk while driving. Three of the seven were women.

The car was at such high speed that a CCTV footage could capture only a flash snap of the Audi Q3. In the impact the wheels came off, and the vehicle was a mangled mass. The steering wheel had broken off and the front portion of the car was destroyed. The car belonged to the politician.

The police have registered a case under IPC Sections 279 (rash and negligent driving) and 304-A (negligence causing death).

The post-mortem examination is being carried out at St John's Hospital in Bengaluru.
