After two Russians, one more foreign tourist found dead in Goa
An Irish woman tourist, Mary Gertrude McNamara, was found dead in Candolim in North Goa. Days earlier, two Russian women were also found dead in the Indian coastal State. According to BBC, 59 British travellers had died in Goa between 2009 and 2016, excluding Scarlett Keeling, who died in 2008.

PANAJI, Sept 2: A 66-year old Irish woman tourist, Mary Gertrude McNamara, was found dead in her rented flat in Candolim, a coastal village, in North Goa on Monday. Police said her body was discovered when the door was broke open as she did not answer calls. She was living alone.

The police have registered a case and the body was sent for post-mortem examination. This was the third death of a tourist in a month's time in Goa.

Two Russian women were found dead in Goa on August 20, in two incidents. One of them was found hanging in her rented apartment and other in her bed at another place where she stayed. The incidents were not connected. However, both were found dead in their separate rented apartments near Siolim in North Goa.

The tourists were Alexandra Ri-Djavi (24), an actress, who was found hanging, and Ekaterina Titova (34). The post-mortem examination report said Titova was smothered to death. Her friend, Denis Kruichkoy, was arrested. The Anjuna police registered cases. The Russian embassy was informed.

Relatives of travellers killed in Goa had said a few years ago that the UK Government should tell people not to visit Goa. According to records published buy BBC, 59 British travellers died in Goa between 2009 and 2016. Fiona MacKeown, mother of Scarlett Keeling, 15, who died in Goa in 2008, had said: "People should be told not to go until the violence is sorted out." Scarlett Keeling was found dead on Anjuna beach in Goa in February 2008. Scarlett was from Bradworthy in Devon.
