Air India to switch to Amadeus reservation system from June 1

NEW DELHI, May 28: Indian airline Air India now owned and operated by the Tatas will switch to the Amadeus reservation system for passenger seat booking from
June 1. The reform is a part of a tech overhaul the management is undertaking
to make Air India a world class airline run on the latest technology.
The air ticketing system changeover will improve the flight scheduling, ticket
reservation, e-commerce, loyalty programmes and departure control, the company
said. It will lead to a smooth booking experience through its website and mobile
app. It is claimed that the Amadeus PSS has better functionalities and is faster.
The current PSS was developed by SITA whose agreement is due to end in June.
Tata's other airline Vistara is also using Amadeus. Madrid- based Amadeus is
an international travel company with 30 years experience. The yet-to-be launched
Akasa Air is also said to be switching to Amadeus.
Amadeus is a computerised air ticket reservation system owned by the Amadeus
IT Group with headquarters in Madrid, Spain. Amadeus is used by British Airways,
Air Canada, KLM, Lufthansa and others use Amadeus.
