Two soldiers missing in Arunachal on China border may have 'drowned'

Recently the Arunachal Pradesh Government had launched a scheme to
develop three villages of Anjaw district - Kaho, Musai and Kibithoo -
bordering China as model villages.

ITANAGAR, June 16: The Indian Army has stepped up the search operations in
the forward areas of Anjaw district in Arunachal Pradesh for two missing soldiers.
They disappeared on May 28. The soldiers hail from Uttarakhand.
It is presumed that Naik Prakash Singh and Lance Naik Harender Singh may have
fallen into the river running close to their post. Aerial reconnaissance and
tracker dogs failed to locate them. A court of inquiry to investigate the incident
has been convened by the Army.
The Anjaw district in northeast Arunachal Pradesh borders Myanmar and Tibet
(China).
One of the jawans, Prakash Singh Rana, who is a resident of Ukhimath in Rudraprayag
district, was deployed at the Thakla post on the India- China border in Arunachal
Pradesh. He was deployed in the 7th Garhwal Rifles, a report said.
