Adityanath's chopper makes emergency landing in Varanasi

The Chief Minister had come to Varanasi on Saturday to pay obeisance at Kashi Vishwanath temple and attend a meeting to review the development works with officials.

VARANASI, June 26: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's helicopter made an emergency landing at Varanasi's Police Lines Ground shortly after it took off for Lucknow following a bird hit on Sunday morning. Nobody was injured.

After leaving the Circuit House in Varanasi at 8.55 am, he took the flight from the Police Lines helipad at 9.10 am. The chopper made the emergency landing back at 9.16 am. He returned to the Circuit House around 9.20 am and left for Babatpur airport from where he left for Lucknow on a State aircraft.

The Chief Minister had come to Varanasi on Saturday to pay obeisance at Kashi Vishwanath temple and attend a meeting to review the development works in Varanasi with officials.

“A bird hit the CM's helicopter after it took off from here (Varanasi) for Lucknow, after which it had to land here,” District Magistrate Kaushalraj Sharma said.

Addressing the inaugural function of the fifth national convention of Vigyan Bharti here on Saturday, Adityanath said the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has a scientific thought process and it is with this "vision that it is working in the country's interest".

Yogi said KB Hegdewar, founder of the RSS, was a doctor and a scientist. MS Golwalkar, who succeeded him, was also a scientist. Several other RSS chiefs, too, had a scientific background, the Chief Minister noted
