VARANASI, June 26: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's helicopter
made an emergency landing at Varanasi's Police Lines Ground shortly after it
took off for Lucknow following a bird hit on Sunday morning. Nobody was injured.
After leaving the Circuit House in Varanasi at 8.55 am, he took the flight
from the Police Lines helipad at 9.10 am. The chopper made the emergency landing
back at 9.16 am. He returned to the Circuit House around 9.20 am and left for
Babatpur airport from where he left for Lucknow on a State aircraft.
The Chief Minister had come to Varanasi on Saturday to pay obeisance at Kashi
Vishwanath temple and attend a meeting to review the development works in
Varanasi with officials.
“A bird hit the CM's helicopter after it took off from here (Varanasi) for
Lucknow, after which it had to land here,” District Magistrate Kaushalraj Sharma
said.
Addressing the inaugural function of the fifth national convention of Vigyan
Bharti here on Saturday, Adityanath said the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS)
has a scientific thought process and it is with this "vision that it is working
in the country's interest".
Yogi said KB Hegdewar, founder of the RSS, was a doctor and a scientist. MS
Golwalkar, who succeeded him, was also a scientist. Several other RSS chiefs,
too, had a scientific background, the Chief Minister noted
