NEW YORK, June 28: A 31-year-old Indian-American Sikh was shot dead in Queens
in New York when he was sitting in a car on Saturday. Satnam Singh was shot
when he was behind the wheel of the SUV, borrowed from a friend, parked down
the street from his home. A gunman approached and started shooting at him, The
New York Daily News reported.
While the police said the gunman came on foot, neighbours said the assailant
came in a car. The New York Police Department is reviewing the footage of home
security cameras for evidence.
Police said Satnam Singh lived just down the street from where he was shot.
Cops said Singh was struck in the chest and neck and died in a local hospital,
Jamaica Hospital.
This is the second incident of racial attacks on Sikhs in New York. On Tuesday
last week, two Sikh men were assaulted in the Richmond Hill.
On June 19, an Indian American techie, Nakka Sai Charan, 26, who hailed from
Nalgonda district of Telangana, was shot dead by an unidentified man in Catonsville,
west of Baltimore, Maryland.
