'Flying Beast' Gaurav Taneja, arrested for Metro b'day party, gets bail

NEW DELHI, July 10: YouTuber Gaurav Taneja was granted bail on Sunday. Of 'Flying Beast' fame, Gaurav Taneja was arrested for holding birthday party at a Noida Metro station in violation of the probibitory orders in force in the UP district of Gautam Buddh Nagar on Saturday.

Thousands of people had thronged the Noida Sector 51 Metro station for the YouTuber's birthday celebration, leading to a chaotic situation. The popular content creator was arrested on Saturday night.

The Noida police said he was arrested as his birthday party at Aqua Line’s Sector 51 metro station caused chaos. He was brought to the station for questioning and later released on bail. They said he was arrested under Section 144 of the CrPC. An FIR has also been filed against him. He has been arrested under sections 188 and 341 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the police added.

The YouTuber had booked a Metro train for his birthday celebration but was duly informed that the capacity of the train would be 200 people only, 50 per coach. As the invitation was made on the social media, a large crowd of his fans gathered at the station, leading to blockage of road traffic.

Gaurav Taneja's wife Ritu Rathee Taneja had written on her Instagram Stories in Hindi and English, "For Gaurav's birthday celebration: We will be restricted by maximum capacity of a metro given by NMRC. But we will meet everyone for sure. I'm doing it all by myself so if there's any fault, forgive me, friends. Keep sending your love."

Gaurav Taneja had studied civil engineering at the IIT-Kharagpur. He also claims to have worked as a pilot and currently studying law at Delhi University.

Gaurav has 7 million YouTube subscribers and 3 million followers on Instagram. Ritu is also a social media activist with 1.6 million followers. They have together made television programmes too. They run three YouTube channels - FitMuscle TV, Flying Beast and Rasbhari ke Papa. He puts up fitness-related videos on YouTube. Last month he kicked up a controversy by calling 'havan' a natural antidote to pollution.
