MERCED (California), Oct 7: The Indo-American Sikh family in Merced in central
California was killed by their kidnapper Jesus Salgado, who is a convicted robber.
It has now emerged that he was employed by the deceased some time ago in their
truck business as a driver and was fired after a dispute between the two, leading
to the revenge killings. The disclosure have come from their relatives and the
authorities have parroted.
The police suspect there was a second person involved in the crime and they
are "waiting" for him to "turn yourself in" ! It is also strange that the police
who are always very efficient did not crack the kidnapping that occurred on
Monday despite the fact that the incident was captured in a surveillance video
and it was in circulation. It was Salgado's relatives who informed the police.
The bodies, stashed in an orchard, were stumbled upon by a farmer on Wednesday
evening.
Again, the police were unable to say what was the manner of death despite the
fact that they visited the crime spot and investigated since Wednesday evening.
(Quote: Merced County Sheriff Vern Warnke). It is not to say if they had acted
on Monday the lives would have been saved - for, the murders took place soon
after the kidnapping.
There was no ransom demand and nothing was stolen from their premises.
The four of the family were abducted at gunpoint on Monday from their trucking
business in Merced. The victims have been identified as Jasdeep Singh (36),
his wife Jasleen Kaur (27), their 8-month-old daughter Aroohi Dheri, and the
child's uncle Amandeep Singh (39).
The city has organised a candlelight vigil every night at 7 pm from October
6 to 9.
The victims originally belonged to Hoshiarpur in Punjab.
Earlier Report: 4 Indian-American Sikhs kidnapped
in California found murdered
TAILPIECE: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Thursday urged the
Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) for a "thorough" probe into the murder of
the Sikh family in the US, unaware of the simple fact that in the US it is not
uncommon for lower level workers to resort to shooting their employer when they
are sacked. Especially in the case of the Californian Sikhs' killing, the accused
was a history-sheeter convicted of robberies and thefts and sentenced years
ago. He was employed by the deceased some time ago and parted ways after a dispute.
What do you want to "probe"?
