TORONTO (Canada), Dec 6: Increasing anti-Indian hatred is leading to more and
more incidents in Canada. An Indo-Canadian woman was shot at several times by
an unidentified man and killed late on Saturday night in Mississauga town in
Greater Toronto Area (GTA) of Ontario province. The Sikh woman aged 21, Pawanpreet
Kaur was resident of Brampton in Toronto.
The Peel Regional Police have described the murder as a targeted killing as
there were too many bullet wounds on the body. They said, "We believe that this
was a targeted incident ... there is no threat to the public safety", and launched
a homicide investigation, according to a PRP tweet.
The shooting took place at a gas station in Mississauga town at 10:30 pm -
a Petro Canada gas station in the Creditview-Britannia Rds. area. The shooter
is said to have left the spot on foot. Nothing is known about him. No weapon
has either been recovered from the scene.
“We saw her fall down and then suddenly the gunman pointed the gun at her head.
We were shocked", an eyewitness said.
Police said anyone with information about the shooting may call investigators

On November 22, an 18-year-old Indian origin youth was stabbed to death in
the parking lot of the Tamanawis Secondary school in Surrey's Newton area. In
April last, a 21-year old student from Ghaziabad in the Indian State of UP was
shot dead in Toronto. Earlier, a young Punjabi woman was attacked and killed.
In recent times, Indian monuments were also targeted.
