Two die, 19 injured in fire in polythene factory in Nashik

The fire broke out in the Jindal Group's polythene manufacturing unit in Mundegaon village of Igatpuri tehsil in Nashik around 11:30 am on Sunday. The fire followed a huge explosion.
Many are feared trapped inside the factory.
“I am personally monitoring the situation. Fire systems from all nearby stations are pressed into action. Two among 14 are critical,” Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said.

NASHIK (Maharashtra), Jan 1: Two persons died and 19 were injured, several
of them critically, in a massive fire in a factory in Nashik on Sunday morning.
Many are feared trapped inside the factory. Fire tenders are putting out the
blaze. A helicopter has also been deployed to help rescue those trapped inside
the factory.
The fire broke out around 11:30 am in the Jindal Group's polythene manufacturing
unit in Mundegaon village of Igatpuri tehsil in Nashik. It is said to have started
in the boiler of the chemical plant. The fire followed a huge explosion, according
to witnesses. Thick plumes of black smoke were billowing out of the building.
Flames were also seen leaping from the site.
The injured workers have been hospitalised. “I am personally monitoring the
situation. Fire systems from all nearby stations are pressed into action. Two
among 14 are critical,” Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said.
3 killed in Solapur fireworks factory blast: Three people were killed
and three injured in a blast at a fireworks factory in Barshi taluka of Solapur
district on Sunday afternoon. The casualties are likely to go up. The injured
have been hospitalised and the fire brought under control.
