Till recently a Democrat and now with the Republican Party, Gabbard has wide experience in military and politics, but her disruptive views, together with Trump's, will isolate the US. Look! It was childish for him to have promised he will end the war on his first day in White House. He was the American President who said disinfectants may be given as injections as cure for covid infection! And some people who got the knowledge from their national leader really drank the liquid and died!

WASHINGTON, Nov 14: President-elect Donald Trump on Wednesday chose former Democratic Congresswoman and reportedly a Hindu convert, Tulsi Gabbard, to serve as Director of National Intelligence in what is described as reward for her loyalty to him.

Trump said, “I know Tulsi will bring the fearless spirit that has defined her illustrious career to our intelligence community, championing our constitutional rights and securing peace through strength."

Of Samoan descent, she has served as veteran in several countries especially in war zones in the Middle East and Africa and has many a time been accused of being a "Russian favourite" and working for Republicans while still remaining in Democratic party. She has very strong and independent opinions on national issues and foreign policies. She is also against foreign interventions, which could lead to dramatic changes in traditional American foreign policies.

Gabbard's policies could possibly disrupt the ties with the allies like UK, Canada, Germany and France, especially in the context of the Ukrainian and Middle East wars. How come Ukraine will surrender its territory to Russia to please Trump. How western Europe can be asked to make compromises on its security?

Earlier being the Vice Chair of the Democratic National Committee Gabbard is thorough with the working and leaders of the Democratic party which she used to the full advantage of Trump during his presidential campaign this time, ripping apart Kamala Harris, after shifting sides. It is said she was the one who dressed up Trump in the green room and fixed teeth to his broadsides on Kamala Harris, the rival candidate in 2024. Her attack on Kamala Harris during the Democratic presidential primary debate in 2019 was a turning point. She had succesfully and fiercely questioned Harris' record as a prosecutor.

The last position Gabbard held was as member of the Hawaii House of Representatives. She was a candidate in the 2020 Democratic presidential primaries and later endorsed Joe Biden. She left the party in 2022 over policy differences she had since 2019 when Hillary Clinton alleged she was trying to help Trump and that she was a "Russian favourite." She campaigned for Republicans in the 2022 midterm elections, and formally joined the Republican Party in 2024.

A Lieutenant Colonel in the US Army (Reserve Officer), Gabbard was also US House Representative for Hawaii from 2013 to 2021. Earlier she was with the Hawaii Army National Guard from 2003 to 2020.

About National Intelligence: Senate approval is required for the appointment of the Director of National Intelligence. The DNI will also be a member of the Cabinet, National Security Council and the Homeland Security Council and reports to the President. Other Intelligence agencies like CIA are also not under the DNI but send reports to the DNI. The National Security Agency (NSA) and some others of the Intelligence community come under the Defence Department (Pentagon). Therefore, DNI does not enjoy unlimited powers as per the existing law made after the 9/11 attack which was blamed on gaps in intelligence. However, it integrates foreign, military and domestic intelligence. The incumbent Madam Director is Avril Haines, the first woman to hold the office.

ANALYSIS: A pious Catholic and a gentleman (in contrast to the savage-looking felon), Biden is the most experienced politician that he doesn't look. Of Irish descent, he has been around the Capitol Hill and the White House for over five decades, quietly observing people and events. The Opposition accused the Prime Minister, who seems to insist he alone will inaugurate everything in the country, of "hurriedly inaugurating" an "incomplete terminal" in March last for publicity on the eve of the general elections. At that time he had also laid the foundation stone for 15 other airport projects across the country. He was also accused of inaugurating an incomplete Ram temple in Ayodhya in January which started leaking in the first downpour last weekend.

It is also puzzling why every few years airport buildings are demolished in Delhi and new plans are made for new constructions and nobody seems to take notice! COMMENT: A simple question but difficult to understand is why the people should be concerned about whether an NTA director is sacked for paper leakage or a DGP is removed for law and order breakdown.
