Ayurveda Go To Index Page Seminar on plant based medicines Jaipur:
Dr. Anbumani Ramadoss, Union Minister of Health and Family welfare
today inaugurated an International Seminar on Plant Based Medicine at
the National Institute of Ayurveda at Jaipur. This was sponsored by
the World Health Organization and the Department of AYUSH of the Ministry
of Health and Family Welfare. In his inaugural address to the gathering
of about 700 including 400 delegates from different parts of the country
and from outside, Dr. Anbumani Ramadoss called for the need of utilization
of modern technology for advancement of Ayurveda for the welfare of
human beings through high quality of research. He also stressed for
the need of revision of Curriculum and Syllabus of learning of Ayurveda
to cater to the needs of the present times. The Minister said that more
research should be undertaken in various aspects of Ayurveda including
Plant based Medicines which has become so popular the world all over.
The Minister also pointed out towards the new diseases prevailing due
to the lifestyle of the people and called for more research oriented
approach for Diabetes, Cancer, Cardiac disorders, etc. He called for
the acceptance of the challenges of changing global health scenario
and the role that Ayurveda can successfully play in controlling and
curing many diseases. Since Ayurveda is based on natural fundamentals
therefore it is more helpful to sustain the better life expectancy,
the Minister added. Later, the Minister also presided over the 18th
Meeting of the Governing Body of the National Institute of Ayurveda.
