Karat fires fresh salvos against Baba Ramdev

New Delhi: Armed with fresh ammunition in the form of a letter purportedly written by the Joint Secretary of the Union Health Ministry, CPIM leader Brinda Karat today attacked Baba Ramdev of violating licensing and labelling provisions. Referring to the analysis reports of the samples she said , "prima facie reveal a violation of licensing and labelling provisions of the Indian Drugs and Cosmetics Act," and demanded strict action be taken against him. She further added," we came to know in June-July last year that herbal ayurvedic medicines prepared by Divya Yog Pharmacy, owned by Ramdev, contained animal material and human bones. We then handed over the medicine samples to Department of Ayush and now they have confirmed our apprehension," This is not the first time that such allegations were made against Ramdev. A few months earlier, Karat had accused him of "breaching the trust of common people in the arclights of growing media popularity." On that occasion Ramdev had opposed the allegations tooth and nail. Today too was no different as he called a press conference and refuted the allegations. Karat demanded that the Uttaranchal Chief minister, ND Tiwari should take swift and strict action against Baba Ramdev.
