Ayurveda offers tips for sound sleep

New Delhi: If you don't have good concentration, the chances are that you might not be getting adequate sleep. Ayurveda has many remedies for this condition. Make sure the bedroom is clean, properly ventilated and free from any disturbance. The sleeping bed should be clean and properly made-up. For a good sleep, it is important to relax, keeping daily worries aside for a few hours. Eat moderately at night, ideally three to four hours before retiring to bed. Sleeping with your head to east or north will help you to get good sleep. Oil massage of head, soles and palms before going to bed helps the body get relaxed and in controlling dreams. According to the Central Council for Research in Ayurveda and Siddha (CCRAS) a minimum of seven hours sleep is required to repair the wear and tear of the body. As far as possible, sleeping during daytime should be avoided as it increases "Kapha" responsible for causing respiratory and digestive troubles.
