Aishwarya Excited About Her Home Production

MUMBAI: The year 2002 was very eventful for Aishwarya Rai because of personal and professional reasons. However, 2003 seems to usher in great hopes. Her first film to hit the screen is her own home production, 'Dil Ka Rishta' starring Arjun Rampal, Rakhee, Paresh Rawal, Isha Koppikar and Priyanshu Chatterjee.

The story has been written by Aishwarya Rai's mother Vrinda Rai. Brother Aditya Rai and Shabbir Boxwala, erstwhile assistant of director Rajiv Rai, are the producers. It is directed by Naresh Malhotra who earlier directed producer Yash Chopra's 'Yeh Dillagi'. Aishwarya, who normally shies away from media, has been forthcoming this time. She is excited but keeps her fingers crossed.

"What are you expecting out of 'Dil Ka Rishta', Aishwarya Rai was asked". "I am really excited but for anything, you have to see the film", she replied.

Q: Tell us about your character of the film?
A: Well, she is very different from what I am.
Q: Is this film different from others as it is your home production?
A: Not exactly, it was a very great experience.
Q: Tell us about your other projects in 2003?
A: I am doing Samir Karnik's film and also a Bengali film directed by Rituporno Sen Gupta.

Arjun Rampal plays Aishwarya Rai's lover and this is the first time he is working with her. He has never played such a role, that of a guy who is trapped in an awkward situation. In spite of many opportunities, he is not able to get the girl who has a mysterious past.

Q: What kind of character are you playing in 'Dil Ka Rishta?'
A: I play quite an interesting character.
Q: How was the experience of working with Aishwarya Rai?
A: She is great co-star and a very nice human being.

The music of the film is provided by Nadeem-Shravan and lyrics by Sameer that propel the gripping narrative forward. Already the songs are a big hit, especially the item number 'Daiyaa Daiyya Re', sung by none other than Alka Yagnik who has worked her voice according to Aishwarya's persona. "Did you work on your voice to suit Aishwarya's personality?" Yagnik answered: "Well, I tried to bring a softness in the voice going with Aishwarya's personality".

Earlier titled 'Kahani', 'Dil Ka Rishta' is a home production of Aishwarya Rai along with Tips and has been produced by Shabbir Boxwala along with Aditya Rai who, though is a merchant navy officer, has undertaken the job of a producer as well. Asked how did 'Dil Ka Rishtaa' happen, Aditya said, "The film is based on a story by my mother Mrs Vrinda Rai". Shabbir Boxwala had earlier been the main man behind the production of all Rajiv Rai's productions. He has produced 'Dil Ka Rai' along with Aditya under their banner called Target Films. "How did association with Aditya and the Rai family happen?" Shabbir replied: "I was toying with the idea of producing the film for a long time and then I heard the script of the film by Mrs Rai."

"The film has been directed by Naresh Malhotra who earlier directed 'Yeh Dillagi', 'Achanak' and 'Kranti'. This is first time he is attempting an emotional love story with lots of twists and turns and is confident of the film and his work. Naresh Malhotra was asked: "How different is 'Dil Ka Rishta' from your previous films?" Answer: "I had made many mistakes in the past and this time I am careful and may be more experienced in terms of my treatment."
