TALASH:
Gripping With Action, Entertaining
With Songs & Dances
Talash (The Search) is all
about a kidnapping. In an
encounter with the underworld,
a man loses his life leaving
behind his wife (Raakhi)
and two children. The little
daughter is taken away as
hostage. The boy who escapes
death grows up to become
Akshay Kumar and the hero
of the story.
The rest of the film tells
us how he sets out on his
life's mission to find his
sister whom the don (Kabir
Bedi) had threatened to
sell when she would grow
up. In the course of the
search he meets all the
villains of the black deed
and kills them one by one.
Along the way he also meets
Kareena Kapoor, daughter
of one of the dons (Raj
Babbar), and Puja Batra,
a moll.
The film has a lot of entertaining
scenes full of action, songs
and dances. Emotional scenes
are contributed by Akshay
and Raakhi, the latter losing
her mind after the trauma
of the husband's murder
and the daughter's abduction.
The comeback staged by Raakhi
and Kabir Bedi with this
film is good augury for
the industry. Such senior
artistes lend weight to
the film's scenes. Kabir
makes a powerful mafia don
called 'Chhota Pathan'.
His portrayal is retrained
and avoids the theatrical
features.
