Bulandshahar: Uttar Pradesh Forest Department rescued a deer which had been captured by smugglers on Thursday here. According to Forest Department officials, one of their teams swung into action and freed the hapless deer after getting a tip-off about its whereabouts. "We received information that a gang of smugglers had captured a deer in Sohanpur. But on our arrival, the smugglers managed to run away leaving the deer behind," said Dattaram, Forest Officer, Hayana Range. The officials claimed that the deer had remained in captivity for nearly a year, and added that two of the smugglers have been identified. "The two absconding persons have been identified as Asfak and Rasmuddin," said Ashok Kumar, Range Conservator of Forests, Bulandshahar. A search operation is on to nab the smugglers.
