DELHI Music/Dance/TheatreTyagaraja Music and Dance Festival topped the events last week. The repertoire consisted mostly of Carnatic music ( South Indian classical style), and dance styles known as Bharatanatyam and Mohiniattam by artistes from southern states.Organised in commemoration of Tyagaraja, a saint-composer of South Indian music, the festival featured young dancers Rama Vaidyanathan (Bharatanatyam) and Vijayalakshmi (Mohiniattam). Textual themes for the various choreographic pieces are drawn from the divine tales of gods and goddesses. In the vocal music and instrumental recital section of the festival also young talents like Sai Bhawani (vocal), N Narasimhan (vocal), Nrityashree (vocal) and Mala Chandrashekhar (bamboo flute).In all 19 female and three male aristes participated in the event.Theatre: Interesting theatre was presented last week by Alliance Francaise de Delhi in collaboration with the Embassy of France and Akshara Theatre.
