Euphoria rocks at Delhi concert
New
Delhi: Euphoria rocked at a concert in the Capital's
Kamani Auditorium on Friday. The group's well-known
lead singer Palash Sen said the concert was Indi rock
as it belted out "Hindustani melodies in western style"
for a college festival. Despite the predominance of
thumping bhangra beats that reverberate nightclubs
and thunder through car windows in northern India,
Euphoria, with its unique brand of Indi rock, has
maintained its niche in the market. The Delhi-based
rock band burst onto the screen with their first album
"Dhoom" that stayed on top of the charts for weeks.
While their song "Dhoom Pichuck Dhoom" shows their
inclination towards folk music and other songs like
"Sh Na Na" or "Hind Rock n' Roll" reveal the flip
side of the band's musical inspiration. Their second
album "Phir Dhoom" and many more have found a place
in the music collection among many music buffs. It
has relished the increased patronage of Indian listeners.
Famous vocalist Pankaj Udhas, the event's chief guest,
said the band's pulsating performance is great inspiration
for young singing talent. "I think it's a very good
platform for singing aspirants. I feel there is so
much of talent in India and that this talent would
come up beautifully with this," said Udhas. Doctor-singer
Palash says the crowd's enthusiasm and support sustains
his passion for music. "All the crowd that we have
met over the past five-six years, they all have been
like this. But the good thing is that I am so happy
as even after six years of playing, everybody supports
Euphoria in the same way as they did tonight," said
Palash Sen, Music buffs lauded the performance. "It
was fantastic, absolutely awesome. It was rocking.
we had lots and lots of fun. It just reminded us of
our college days," said Nitika, a music buff. "It
was awesome, simply rocking. I have just loved it.
We just love them. It was awesome, truly great," said
Aakash, another music buff. Euphoria consists of Palash
Sen on vocals, Gaurav Mishra on guitar, Debajyoti
Bhaduri on bass, Benjamin Pinto on keyboards, Hitesh
Madan on guitar and Christopher Powell on drums.
