Pakistan artistes in India for cultural festival
by Ravinder Singh Robin

Wagah border (Punjab): More than 30 artistes crossed over from Lahore to Amritsar to take part in 'Saanjh: Amritsar-Lahore Festival', a cultural extravaganza aimed at increasing people-to-people contact between the two countries. The festival has been organised by Punarjot under the aegis of Spring Dale Education Society. The festival takes place in two phases. First in Lahore and second in Amritsar, and showcases a diverse range of performing arts including Sufi, folk and classical music. The artistes said that both the countries had their own problems and should look forward to encouraging peace and love amongst the people. "All the struggle that is being put towards enhancing peace is being done with a purpose. There is a common flash point between the two countries, which is Kashmir and it has been facing turbulence at different times. We worry about that all the time. I think we should look at peace and love," said Fahazan Peerzada, a Pakistani artiste. The event will take place in New Delhi till October 30.
