Biggest musical shop inaugurated in Nagaland

Kohima:
Nagaland has something new with the inauguration
of a big outlet to sell musical instrument, Unitex
Inc, in Kohima. First of its kind in the North East,
the music outlet has translated the vision of many
musicians and artists into reality. The showroom is
a multi brand outlet, with a unique demo-room facility,
helping the musicians to synchronize the instrument
before they buy it. The significance of the showroom
can be understood from the fact that the Nagaland
Chief Minister, Nephie Rio himself inaugurated it.
"This has come like a blessing for us, especially
for the musicians and all the young people, who are
very talented and looking for a platform. This comes
like a gift to us. I believe this is good," said Imiti,
a music lover from Nagaland. The musical instrument
shop is an attempt to change the image of the state.
"Music is definitely going to bring peace into the
state. Look around you, if this place had been insurgency-hit,
would I be doing business to this extent; would I
be investing so much? I would like to clear the misconception
that this is not a safe place," said Neingulie Nakhro,
Managing Director of Unitex, Nagaland.
It
is the urge for establishing permanent peace in the
state that the younger generation is using music as
a tool to spread the message of harmony and normalcy.
And the concert for peace held against the backdrop
of recent factional violence in the state's commercial
capital, Dimapur, reflects this fact. Unitex Inc is
the reflection of the state's love for music and the
growing craze among the youngsters of Nagaland to
choose music as a profession ever since the state
has given music the status of industry. Moreover,
the State Government has also set up a Music Task
Force to assist talented musicians and give them training
and exposure. Music Task Force is a special cell amalgamated
with the Youth Resources Department of the government.
"Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday
life," said Berthold Auerbach. And the people of Nagaland
are hoping that music would succeed to bring the much
sought about peace in the state.
