Kolkata takes the lead in giving jewellery
a colourful twist

are the craze of diamonds among the urban women, now coloured
stone jewellery is exciting them for its uniqueness in terms
of matching to the outfit and mood, and designers are losing
no chance to grab the market. The stone jewellery like Kundan,
Jadau and enamel detailing look something different, trendy
and are selling like a hot cake in the metropolitan cities.
"Sometimes the ordinary gold jewellery doesn't match with
everything what you wear. It gives an added advantage as you
can mix and match the colour stone jewellery with your sarees
or any other dress you are wearing," said Sayanti Mukherjee,
a customer. "If the colour you are wearing compliments your
jewellery, gives a different look and makes you look much
more elegant and nice. It enhances your personality as well,"
said Rituparna Ghosh, Bengali Actress. The designers also
feel that the colour factor matters a lot and the style statement
of woman is welcoming the new trend. "The motive in this jewellery
is very traditional, a lot of contemporary styling has been
done so that it is relevant for the women of today. We feel
that the Indian women is really becoming fashion conscious
and tends to match the jewellery with the clothes she is wearing.
Women tend to use the colour she is wearing as the reflection
of her personality," said Harman Delo, a jewelery designer.
Tanishq, a major player has come up with its new range of
the genuine coloured stone studded jewellery. The designs
under this collection fuse modern day sensibilities with conventional
styles. The rate of this kind of jewellery varies between
Rs. 15,000 to 2,00,000.
