Design students display their exquisite creations in Delhi

New Delhi: Models sashayed down the ramp in exclusive and exquisite clothes designed by the students of Unison World School, a fashion academy here on Saturday. The academy is located in Dehradun. About 20 students participated in this fashion show titled 'Prism 2009' wherein they showcased their creativity in clothes as well as jewellery collections. Sakshi Mansingh, a fashion student, was declared the winner. She said that she was touched by the acts of courage shown during the November 2008 terror attack on Mumbai that she named her collection as 'Rising of the Phoenix'. "I have taken inspiration from terrorism. From there I have taken rising of ... terrorism is there all around. It can be finished. So, I have shown hope, inspiring all the things. All hope, everybody will together and terrorism will be vanished. So I have shown that," said Sakshi Mansingh. Another fashion design student, Pallavi Sharma, was awarded a gong for the simplicity and illusions in her creations. "My collection is a very practical collection. A very commercially viable so that people can pick it up from the ramp and wear it. Not very designer kinds, not very over-exaggerated kinds for which people have to think twice or thrice to go and take it. So my inspiration and collections are always for something real so that people can wear it," said Sharma. She expressed that her theme was being translated through screen and digital prints as well as patchwork in the garment. Students of the academy also displayed their creative skills in jewellery and interior designing. In India's blooming fashion industry, thousands of young hopefuls enrol in fashion design institutions to hone their skills. Indeed, they have proved to be successful not only at home but all over the globe for their excellence in creativity.
